Most couples spend more time preparing for their wedding than their marriage. When the hustle and bustle of your wedding day is over, will you be ready for the ups and downs that marriage brings? What is marriage mentoring?
Before you walk down the aisle, consider meeting with another married couple who can help you think about issues you may face when you are married. During a marriage mentoring session, you'll communicate your thoughts about expectations for your married relationship with your spouse-to-be and work through potential solutions for problem areas. From sex to communication, finances and parenting, there might be future problems in your married life that you haven't even considered. Why not take the time to address these issues now so that you'll have a smoother road ahead?
What is expected of me?
You and your spouse-to-be will each take a marriage inventory that will profile challenges and issues that are unique to your relationship. The results will lead your time and discussions during your mentoring sessions and will reveal your strong points and where you can improve as a couple. Your mentors will meet with you for four to eight sessions for an hour and a half per session, including two sessions after your wedding. The time involved is minimal compared to the lifetime investment you will make for your marriage.
How much does pre-marital mentoring cost?
There is no cost to a couple for the marriage mentoring itself. However, depending upon the church or organization, there may be up to a $15.00 fee for the scoring of the marital inventory used in the process.
How do we get started?
To request mentoring, please submit the Mentoring Request Form online and a representative from the Marriage Matters office will be contacting you.
